God of restoration

God of restoration

In the Bible, Job is the one who comes to our mind when we hear the word “Suffering”. The other word that keeps reminding of him is “Twice”. If we look at the life of this lovely man of God, it was full of struggle, pain and misery. But let us not forget his battle of Faith. All these things happened to a man whom God himself testifies as “A blameless and upright man” in Job 1:8. His Faith in God was thoroughly tested through the disease Satan brought on him and the losses he faced in his family and in his wealth. The whole Book of Job talks about this test and in the end it says in Job 42:10, “Indeed the Lord gave Job twice as much he had before.”

Job did lose everything, but God restored twice as much to him. Many times we forget the fact that our God is not only a God who gives but also a God who restores what we have lost. May be today we are facing a loss due to our carelessness, our weaknesses, our mistakes or anything that Satan has brought to test us the same way he did to Job. But God says “I will restore”, not a single portion but double of it. It is God’s way of doing things. He is not the One who condemns us but the One who forgives, accepts and blesses us.

We must not give up our Faith on Him through struggles and pain but endure in Faith as Job did and we will surely see His Restoration in our lives. The first thing we need to ask Him is to restore our fellowship with Him because it is the beginning of all other restorations. That’s why Jesus says in Matthew 6:33 “But seek first His Kingdom and His righteousness and all these things will be given unto you”.  Job persevered in his relationship with God through thick and thin, submitting himself to His will and God faithfully restored everything to him. Let us remember that God expects the same thing from us even today. He says in Zechariah 9:12 “I will restore twice as much to you.” God Bless!!!
